Students Eating Habits Exposed

The results are in with Fresh weeks over for another year and the new student have drunk their way through over 1 million pints, 5 million slices of pizza and 840,000 kebabs.
Fresher’s Week is a notorious for new students to party hard and to let themselves go with no hassle from their parents. According to UCAS, 419,627 applicants had a place confirmed at Uni this year, an increase of 44,523 on last year.

Just Eat, the UK’s leading online takeaway ordering site noticed a huge rise in takeaway orders from student halls and decided to take a closer look.

Based on averages Just-Eat found from surveying 1,628 Freshers, here is Fresher’s Week in numbers:

Takeawaystakeaways are an essential part of any student’s diet. Pizzas Have always been popular with students however this year they proved to be a big success, kebabs are obviously still popular in any students diet:

Alcohol – students wouldn’t be students if they didn’y overindulge on their first week of freedom from their parents:

- Pints taking just the male Fresher population, an average of 6 pints a night throughout Fresher’s Week means a grand total of 1,258,881 pints were drunk across University cities last week alone
– Spirits the average female Freshers student downed 34 measures of spirits last week, meaning that females alone drank 7,133,659 spirit measures
– Shots 14 shots were drunk per person on average last week, or 5,874,778 slammers

Paracetamol the dreaded hangover, what would true night be without having to deal with a hangover in the morning? Paracetamol companies will be pleased with students claiming taking an average of 10 tablets so an amazing 262,267 packs have been consumed throughout the week

Fancy dress outfits Fancy dress is always a big hit a University as this year was no different. 3 in 4 of the respondents said they dressed up last week, with the average number of costumes used being quoted as 4. Apparently 1,258,881 guises were worn by drunken students throughout the week.
