Why I Prefer Zojirushi Rice Cookers

Zojirushi manufactures some of the best rice cookers available on the market today. Dominating the market in Japan, they have established themselves as a leader in the rice cooker business. An entire nation of serious rice fanatics has to say something for the quality of product that they produce.

Zojirushi rice cookers range from the most basic for those on a budget or who don’t need many features all the way up to the most advanced rice cookers on the market. Whether you’re just one person or a large family Zojirushi has a rice cooker that will fit your needs.

Zojirushi offers a number of different features throughout their line of rice cookers, below are some of the most prominent:

Warming

All but a select few Zojirushi rice cookers come with a warming feature these days and I personally would never buy one without it. At the very least this feature allows the rice to stay warm for hours after it’s finished cooking, but many also provide a re-warming ability, allowing you to re-heat rice or other foods in the rice cooker. One thing to keep in mind though is to try to avoid using any warming feature with very small amounts of rice, such as 1 or 2 cups as this can dry the rice out.

The Ability to Steam

Getting a Zojirushi rice cooker with the ability to steam is a good idea. There really isn’t much difference between one with the steamer feature and one without except the one with is designed to hold a steamer plate that comes with the rice cooker. With a steamer you can steam vegetables, fish, certain types of rice such as Jasmine and Thai sticky rice and a ton more, it’s a fantastic feature that really opens up the options for your rice cooker.

Neuro Fuzzy and Fuzzy Logic

Fuzzy technology is very common in Zojirushi rice cookers, in fact, just about all mid to upper-range models come with it. If you are particular about the way your rice comes out then you shouldn’t get any rice cooker without this technology. Neuro Fuzzy is a newer version of Fuzzy Logic but both work very well. Rice cookers with this feature are able to constantly update the temperature and cooking time, thus allowing it to always produce a perfect pot of rice. It also helps reduce the impact of poor measuring or other possible human errors.

Induction Heating

Induction heating isn’t too common amongst most rice cookers, in fact Zojirushi, like most manufacturers, only has it available on their higher-end models. Most rice cookers use a heating coil under the cooking pot to cook the rice, however with induction heating there is no coil, the heat is much more evenly distributed throughout the rice. This allows for a more even cooking and reduces the possibility that the rice on the bottom with become a bit more well done than the rice on top.

I hope this helps you in deciding which rice cooker to buy. I love Zojirushi rice cookers and that’s now all I use in my kitchen but that’s not to say the other brands don’t make wonderful rice cookers, in the end it all comes down to personal preference.

So grab yourself a rice cooker and find information on rice cooking tips and you’ll be enjoying a entirety new menu of cuisine within days!
