Delicious Christmas Drinks Also Have Health Benefits
Wednesday, March 9th, 2011We already know that Christmas drinks can add zing to a party. Any party is simply boring without these Christmas drinks. Gatherings without Christmas drinks are like dishes without spice. You can survive the night, but you might not enjoy it as much. Christmas drinks are also delicious, and if you choose your Christmas drinks well, they could enhance the flavor of the food.
However, do you know that Christmas drinks also have some benefits for the health? There are studies showing that alcoholic drinks, like Christmas drinks, have health benefits. Now, you have something you enjoy that is not bad for you. These studies do not give you the license to consume all the Christmas drinks you can find at a party, though. The drinking they refer to is drinking in moderation. You might encounter more problems than benefits if you start to drink like there is no tomorrow.
The health benefits of drinking alcoholic Christmas drinks, according to these studies, are reduced risk of dementia, reduced risk of heart disease, and lower risk of diabetes. The experts, however, said that the most compelling evidence is for the relationship between moderate drinking and reduced risk of heart disease.
The studies also show that, unfortunately, the health benefits that can be obtained from drinking these bar drinks do not apply to everybody. As you already know, the benefits apply only to moderate drinkers. Additionally, only older men are greatly benefitted. Others can be benefitted but only to a smaller degree. Furthermore, the benefits are meaningless to pregnant women who should not be taking alcohol. Finally, minors and alcohols do not mix. Alcoholic drinks do not offer any advantage to their age group. They would be better off with nonalcoholic Christmas drinks instead, which are just as pleasant.
We’ve been conditioned to expect something to be bad if it is enjoyable, like all those calorie laden chocolate cakes and juicy quarter pounders. Due to this, knowing that your favorite Christmas drinks are not only seen “not bad” but also beneficial is such a relief.
