It could be a certain kind of onion, or other vegetables, certain herbs or types of pepper, and a collection of signature spices for their dishes. In fact, they will probably never be used again, but it is difficult to make the decision to throw them out because the specialty ingredients are usually a bit expensive.

The only problem is that the best healthy recipes have the dirtiest pages. Then there are people who collect certain ones and then put them on four by six inch index cards. Although this could drive a person crazy, at least they do not need to worry about a cook book closing by itself while you are trying to follow a recipe.

One can fill entire shelves, and yes, even entire rooms with recipes. You will eventually have one on every kind of meal for every occasion. It is funny, though, that the cooks with the most talent never use them.

So the chicks are brought home to the farm, and they are set up in a very warm environment. The more the farmer buys, the warmer they will keep each other. Or perhaps herbs like thyme and basil, or a combination of Italian seasonings. This same cook may also have ingredients in the cupboard that he or she bought for one special meal on an occasion, and it has been sitting in that cupboard ever since. 1. Smoked Turkey Breast with Collard Greens: Ingredients include: 1.5 pounds collard greens, pound smoked turkey breast, cup chicken broth, minced onion, tsp. red pepper flakes, tsp. minced celery, and tsp. ground black pepper. Place the cut up pieces of collard greens and turkey in a pot. Cover them with water and cook on medium heat, covered, for 20 minutes. Add the onion, celery, red pepper flakes, chicken broth, onion, red pepper flakes, and black pepper, and cook on medium heat for approximately an hour.

2. Peppercorn Honey Mustard Pork Roast: Ingredients include: 1- pound pork loin roast, 1 orange, a 12-oz package of cranberries, 1/4 cup honey, 2 tbsp. honey mustard, 2 tbsp. crushed peppercorns, 1/2 tsp. 1 tsp. minced thyme, and 1/2 tsp. salt. Chop up orange and cranberries. Place in saucepan and blend in honey. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook 3 to 4 minutes. Cool. Place the pork around the roast in a roast cooking pot. Mix the honey mixture and other ingredients in a bowl. Baste the roast and pork with the sauce. Cook at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove and baste the meat. Cook for another 20 minutes. Let it sit for about 15 minutes and then serve.

3. Honey Mustard Glazed Turkey: Ingredients include: 5 pound turkey breast , 1/4 cup apricot preserves, 1 tbsp. honey-style mustard. Place turkey breast in roast pan. Bake for 2 hours at 325 degrees. In a bowl, blend the mustard and apricot preserves. Baste the glaze over the turkey breast and cook for another 20 min. Remove and serve.

4. Rib Eye Roast with Gravy, Potatoes, and Mushrooms: 1 tbsp minced rosemary, 2 minced garlic gloves, 2 tsp salt, 1 tsp ground black pepper, one 4-pound rib eye roast, 4 pounds small potatoes (cut in small portions), 1 tbsp vegetable oil, 1 pound chopped white mushrooms, 1 tbsp butter, 1 tbsp all-purpose flour, 1 can beef broth, and 1 tbsp tomato paste. In a bowl, mix rosemary, garlic, and salt and pepper. Baste the roast. Cook for 40 minutes at 350F (175C). Add potatoes to the roast pan. Cook for another 20 minutes. Put mushrooms in the roast pan, swirl, and cook for another 40 minutes. Mix butter and flour together in a bowl. Remove roast and vegetables from oven. Remove food from the pan. Add beef broth to the pan juices, boil, and cook for 2 minutes. Reduce the heat and mix in flour mixture and tomato paste, and blend. Pour the gravy in a bowl. Slice beef and serve with gravy, potatoes and gravy.

Easy Recipes That Can Feed A Family

Orange Chicken with Rosemary: Ingredients: 1 lb boneless and skinless chicken portions, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp pepper, 6 oz thawed juice concentrate, 1 tsp rosemary, 1 tsp thyme, and 1 tsp marjoram. Place the chicken in a casserole dish. Lightly add pepper and paprika over the chicken. Mix the other ingredients in a bowl and pour over the chicken. Bake the chicken covered at 350F for approximately an hour.

Tasty Tacos: Ingredients: 1 pound lean ground beef, 1 ounce taco seasoning packet, 2/3 cup water, one can of kidney beans, 1/3 cup light sour cream, 1/3 cup medium salsa, 4 cups shredded iceberg lettuce, 2 cups chopped tomatoes, 1 cup grated cheddar cheese, and flour tortillas. In a frying pan, cook the lean ground beef until crumbly. Drain the fat. Add taco seasoning packet, 2/3-cup water, and beans to the meat. Mix everything together and cook. Reduce heat and let simmer for about 5 minutes. Stir as it simmers. Remove from heat and let it cool while covered. Divide all of the lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, salsa, and sour cream in separate small bowls. Set aside and let it cool a bit. Add sour cream and salsa to a small bowl and mix until well blended. Warm the tortillas shells in the oven or microwave. Place the meat filling in the tortilla shell. Allow each member of the family to add their choice of vegetable toppings.

Hamburger Pizza Pie: Ingredients: 1 pound of lean ground beef, 2 packets of pizza dough mix, 1 can spicy pizza sauce, 1 pound of mozzarella cheese. Brown the ground beef in a frying pan until crumbly. Drain the fat. Follow the directions of the dough packet mixture to make the crust. Grease the bottom and sides of a pizza pan. Press the pizza dough into the pan, including the sides to make a thicker crust. Sprinkle flour on your hands to keep the dough from sticking to fingers and hands when you press it for the crust. Add a layer of the spicy pizza sauce over the crust. Add of the ground beef to the bottom of the pan. Cover the top with grated Parmesan cheese. Repeat the process to have another layer. Sprinkle the top of the pizza with mozzarella cheese. Bake at 350-degrees for approximately 20 minutes and the crust is brown. Remove from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes before cutting and serving.
