Instructions to boil water for tea using a Fire Pit.

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

A firepit can be good for the environment and help you save on energy bills. Because a traditional fire pit uses only ordinary wood fuel, there is no need for the installation of gas lines or electricity to make them functional. Additionally, a fire pit can double as an appliance to heat small meals, warm a room, provide light and burn trash. This article will feature the method for boiling tea with your fire pit.

Step One – Prep the Fire

In order to reach a temperature which will cause the water to boil, your fire must be built and stoked correctly. Kindling, such as sticks, twigs, or leaves, can be arranged in a small pile. The wood has to be stack in a way that allows air circulation while permitting close proximity to each piece to both the kindling and to the other pieces. Keep adding kindling a little at a time until the fire is going strong. Go on to the next step after you get a strong flame which will appear blue in parts.

Step Two – Add The Kettle

You may choose to use a kettle or a pan to boil your water, depending on which is more durable or available.Decorative kettles are not ideal for use within fires, so you may want to use one which is metal-based. You can choose to hold the kettle or pot over the fire, but this can get tiring. It might make more sense to put the container near the fire’s edge yet still near the heat source. Some units do come with grills, so the simplest fix is to put the container on the grill on top of the flames. Whichever method you use, let the water heat until it is boiling or has reached the temperature you desire.

When making bagged or whole-leaf tea, there are two methods in which you can follow. You can either boil the tea on the stove for several minutes or add the tea bag to a hot cup of water. As the smoke might change the taste of tea a bit, the connoisseur would wait until you have water in your cup. Let the tea steep for a few minutes and enjoy!
